This is a little song I wrote a couple minutes ago (another 3am song) that was inspired by My Chemical Romance and Nova's endlessly lame excuses for not helping me pay for my ticket back to Canada... Here's the story: I came to Japan in Aug to work for Nova and pay off some of my debt (had to go into more debt just to pay for my flight here) only to find that they went bankrupt before paying me for my first 2 months of work! The new company that bought them out promised we'd all get rehired but then sent us notices telling us they werent going to hire us after all... (after spending 4 months jobless, acquiring more debt, waiting for Nova to reopen again cause they'd promised us our jobs back) Now that I need to go back to Canada, I asked if I could take them up on their offer for financial assistance, and they refused to help me out saying that my request was made after the deadline... Argh! To give you an idea of what kind of company Nova really is, check this out: One of my friends who still works at nova told me about Nova's new policy: If you take ONE sick day off you're fired. They've always been like that with their employees, always keeping us in the dark, lying to us and treating us like dirt. What a ridiculous company, I'm convinced its run by brainless monkeys... but then again, even brainless monkeys would have more heart than to leave people stranded in Japan with no food or money and offer no help! A video letter is a concept where youth can make their own film about their lives in their particular community, village or city. In this way one gets an in-debt, real life perspective that is often overlooked or ignored by mainstream media. Video letters are made through a series of workshops where youth are taught basic film production and journalism. The different aspects that the youth present in the video letters touch human rights for children as they are declared by UNICEF in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). It is a relatively accessible process where all you need is a few flip cameras, a computer with Internet access and an interest in creating a youth media after-school workshop. This particular video letter is from Nova Holanda in Complexo da Mare, Rio de Janeiro. Students from New School University, New York City, created an 8 week workshop for 10 children in Nova Holanda in cooperation with PUC University of Rio de Janeiro. This workshop was intended to provide visual inclusion to the kids from Nova Holanda as well as teaching critical awareness through the use of youth media. |

英会話学校最大手「NOVA」、会社更正法の適用を申請 負債総額は500億円以上経営危機に陥っていた英会話学校最大手「NOVA」が、会社更正法の適用を申請した。負債総額は、およそ500億円以上にのぼる。 解約トラブル、給与遅配、そして教室の休校。 迷走を続けた英会話学校最大手「NOVA」が、会社更正法を申請、経営破たんとなった。 NOVA受講者は「(残額)43万円余りです。損したなとか、残念だなとか、これからどうやって勉強しようとか」と話した。 また、NOVA元受講者は「業務一時停止命令が出て、倒産するのではという不安はあった」と話した。 負債総額500億円以上、契約の解除をめぐるトラブルが相次ぎ、2007年6月に経済産業省からの一部営業停止命令に端を発し解約が急増、それにより資金繰りが悪化し、講師などへの給料の支払いが遅れ、休校する教室も増えていた。 6月の行政処分後の会見で、NOVA・猿橋 望前社長は「実際に経営そのものに与える影響は軽微である」と話していた。 猿橋前社長は、ワンマン経営で業界トップまでのぼりつめたが、25日夜、取締役3人による臨時取締役会で解任された。事実上のクーデターによって失脚した。 訴訟を起こしている元受講者は「3～4カ月、監査役と話をしてきたが、結局、ワンマン社長なんですよ。全部トップダウン方式で決めているような会社。(ほかの役員は)NOVAのイメージを良くして、それからだという考えなのに、猿橋代表がそれにあんまり耳を傾けなかったみたいですね」と話した。 突然の破たんによって、全国およそ700カ所の教室は一時閉鎖し、講師たちは自宅待機となった。 その講師たちが加盟する労働組合が、26日に会見し、NOVAの経営について語った。 労働組合の会見で講師は、「働きながら給料がない。お金がない。給料が入らない。家賃も払えない <b>...</b> |

A ship feeding off the Enterprise's warp field is exposed after the crew ignites the plasma exhaust. Commander Tucker takes a trip to the ship to help them repair their warp drive. After his return to the Enterprise, he finds some unexpected developments both on and inside his body. Act Four The Xyrillian ship is hiding in the Klingon ship's plasma wake. Archer hails the Klingon ship, which turns, targets and fires two warning shots. Archer hails again and asks Captain Vorak if they have been experiencing any technical problems. Vorak says yes; they detect the Xyrillian ship when Archer informs them, then lock on with a tractor beam. Vorak orders Trena'l brought to him and that the crew be executed. T'Pol interrupts to tell Vorak that Archer is the man who found Klaang and saved Qo'noS from civil war and that the Chancellor himself called Archer brother in the High Council Chamber. Archer convinces Vorak to take Trip to the Xyrillian ship. Vorak refuses until Archer informs him of Trip's pregnancy. Vorak and his second officer go with Trena'l to see the holodeck recreate the capital of Qo'noS. Vorak is impressed by the holodeck demonstration - he can even see his own house from their vantage point. Trip shows Ah'len the pregnancy; she is amazed that it could happen with another species. She scans the embryo and announces that it can be safely transferred to another host. The baby girl looks very healthy. Back on their ships, Vorak ends the encounter by stating that the <b>...</b> |
